Even without being part of the Zelda series, this game is a lot of fun. If you've played 'Link's Awakening' on the Gameboy, you will see that this game is very reminiscent of that one. You gain one special item in each successive Palace - something that has not changed as far as I know, fight bosses, and navigate your way through progressively more difficult dungeons/lairs. The nice thing is that this game provides a lot of backdrop compared to older installments of Zelda, and the graphics were really nice for that time, and still are today.

There are a couple of parts of this game that are frustrating, but overall this game is really solid, and I've enjoyed it. If you're a Zelda fan, definitely check it out.

i have to say nitendo has always been a platform for setting standards in the video gaming industry. when it released nes no one thought it could get any better, then came along the snes, better yet the n64, now the camecube, all great systems but with snes i have yet to be bored, nes had quite a few games but not enough to keep us on that stage, snes has so many games it is impossible to get bored, i own all of them and i only play the snes , oh yeah i do play conkers bad fur day for n64 (get that game itll kep you laughing)... on with it if you looking for top of the lines graphics forget it dont get it, does anyone really want a system that real, if it gets too real it could get boring the systems are made to take you from reality not to put you into another one.... if your looking for a retro system... look no further.... get the snes... the snes may be old and outdated but it still has a place in my heart, i dont think ill ever let the snes go

In my opinion this is the very, very best Mario game. I have played almost all of them, and this one wins hands down. The graphics are good, the controls are good, fun enemies, and of course who doesn't love Yoshi? I have beaten this game over and over again just because it is so much fun to play. I wish some of the newer games were as fun as this one actually- if you are thinking of downloading this one to your Wii- go for it... you won't be sorry.

I got this unit for my nieces for Christmas. I was disappointed with the controllers right away, because the cables were too short, and one of the 2 didn't work at all. I didn't care because I had extra SNES controllers that work great with the FC twin. I tested it and it worked great with the SNES and NES games so I went ahead and gave it to my nieces for their Christmas present. Sadly, when they put in Super Mario Kart, then Turtles IV, then NBA Jam, none of them worked right (one player could move, while the other just sat there and was paralyzed). I had only tested the system as one player because my wife will not play with me. NONE of the cooperative team games (super contra, etc.) worked on the SNES port of the FC twin. The looks of disappointment on my nieces faces really hurt and I was forced to order them a real SNES for more money. So, if you want this system, be prepared to buy original SNES controllers and only play by yourself. Also, the NES audio sounds terrible on many games unless you hook it up through an old mono (white and yellow cable only) VCR. Buyer beware.

I loved this game it had Donkey Kong always beating on his chest and doing loud noises everytime when you make him stop, and Donkey Knog Jr. would scratch his head. In this game when one monkey gets hit in order to get your partner you have to find a barrel inside would be a monkey screeming to be let out so you grab it drow it on the ground break it then your partner comes back. I like it when you choose which person you want to use and I mean while during your playing all you do is tag team. This game has a lot of scary rides like that rollar coster or being shot out of shotting barrels while it's a snow storm. And the giant bee's you have to dodge them or hit thim with a barrel.

(Gamer since the glory days of MULE on the Commodore 64 and Space Invaders on the Atari 2600...)

When a system's first year games are those the likes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV, Super Mario World, Super Ghouls and Ghosts, Castlevania IV, Zelda: Link to the Past, and Final Fantasy II (among others), you know that you're in for a good couple years (at least!) of gaming goodness. That's exactly what Nintendo delivers with the SuperNES. There are more good games for this system than any other system EVER! Heck, the "cream of the crop" games for this system spans at LEAST fifty different titles!

Just like the NES, the SuperNES kept Nintendo on top of the gaming market, still easily outselling it's closest rival, the Sega Genesis. In fact, the SuperNES games that were released in late '94/'95 made the 32-bit Dreamcast debut look like they were just catching up to the current gaming scene (more proof that true gaming is all about the games). Nintendo actually ended up scrapping their 32-bit system to concentrate on developing the N64. Around the same time, a little company called Rare jumped on the Nintendo bandwagon and began forging the unforgetable Donkey Kong Country, the first 32-bit game to grace the SuperNES. The games Sega were releasing for the Dreamcast weren't that much better (graphics-wise) than the SuperNES games being released. The SuperNES games were more fun, there were a LOT more of them, and if you weren't a die hard Sega fan you probably owned a SuperNES. All these factors give the SuperNES the honor of being the ONLY system to keep cranking out great games right up until the very end (I don't recall many, if any, games released in 1997). Need proof? Just take a look at the games cranked out during last half of the SuperNES reign (1994-1996)...

The Donkey Kong trilogy, Final Fantasy III, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, Mega Man X3, Kirby's Super Star, Tetris Attack, and Killer Instinct were just a handful of the truly great games released. The SuperNES gave us great games until the very end, and squeezed every last ounce of speed that could be juiced out of this bad boy. Of course, when you've got partners like Capcom, Rare, and Squaresoft in your corner it does give you quite an edge over the competition...

You wanna talk about durability? I've owned my SuperNES since it's pre-release in 1990, I've put more hours in this system than any other, and it's still going strong. This is the most durable system (tied with the N64) ever made. However, unlike the N64, the controllers are the most durable and most comfortable out of any system EVER (see my controller review below for more details...).

So, to recap...

- Most durable system EVER designed
- Most durable controller EVER designed
- Most comfortable controller EVER designed
- Most fun, and, dare I say it... TIMELESS games ever made

What's left to say? The SuperNES is still THE gaming system to own. I've owned (note that I use that term in the past tense...) a PS2 (which broke), XBox, and GameCube. With the sole exception of Tekken Tag Tournament, I'm not all that impressed. Sure, GTA3 and Twisted Metal Black were fun, but if they were really that great, why would I still keep coming back to the SuperNES to play the classics I grew up with? It's certainly not for nostalgia purposes. Doing something solely to quell your nostalgia craving is NEVER this fun!

You need MORE proof??? Just look at how much a SuperNES system and games like Final Fantasy II, III, and Chrono Trigger still sell for... USED!!!

Case closed. Time to get eaten so I can find Gogo again...

While many consider this the black sheep of the Super Mario Bros series on the NES, this game is actually my favorite on the bunch. The world is nothing like the world of the other Mario games, and the enemies and bosses and goal is different. This is a quest to defeat Boss Wart (instead of Bowser) and you have the options of playing as one of four characters (with the ability to switch every level): Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad. Each of these characters have different play characteristics. Toad can pick up any object with no difficulty but is the worst jumper. Princess is the opposite (no strength, but can float). Luigi has the best jump (no float), but that becomes its own problem. Mario is perfectly average. These strengths and weaknesses come into play in choosing who to use for each level and some are clearly better than others on any given level. Even though I found this game to be the easiest of the bunch, for me it was also the most fun. This is still a side-scrolling game, but some levels scroll up and down on the screen (keeping the side-scrolling viewpoint, though) depending on if you are climbing or dropping down. There are shortcuts in many levels and different ways to warp, get extra lives (including an odd cheat for extra lives), or to shorten the game. In the end, there are a couple of difficult levels, but this may be the easiest of the three on the NES. Even so, this is my favorite of all of the Super Mario games on the NES.

This is a great alternative to buying both NES and SNES or buying a Wii. I was going to buy a Wii so I could purchase and play these older games using the Wii market place. However it was so much cheaper to spend $37 on the system and $100 on original games, rather than $350 - $400 for the Wii and the parts I wanted.

The system has played every game I have thrown at it without problems. It does have better carts than the original systems. It comes with composite video which does produce a great picture when compared to the original video output. I normally replace the included video/audio cables when purchasing a new device, but the ones included are very long and work fine. THE CONNECTION TO THE SYSTEM IS LOSE. Besides that there is no problem with the video or audio.

The only other complaint I have is the included controllers are cheap, flimsy, and the cables are REALLY SHORT. The buttons are solid, but I will be replacing them with standard SNES controllers with cable extenders.

I have read that these systems do not work with all SNES games (as well as a few NES). This is due to some SNES games having independent processors in the cartridge. There are some other issues reported that are supposed to have been fixed with newer models.

The system I received in a box with the Yobos hologram stickers over the seams with the year 2010 printed in the hologram. Whether this system was built in the last 2 months or the stickers were just placed on has not been found out yet.

Mortal Kombat was really weak on the SNES because it was so censored. No blood, some people had different fatalities (ex: Johnny Cage's foot in your stomach). Blood was traded for sweat (?!?!) and because of those 2 reasons, the game was truly brought down a notch.

Yes it's still a classic but it's not worth it on SNES. You're better off getting it on the SEGA system because that way you could overcome the censorship and at least put in a "blood code".

Personally, I'd skip this one anyday and go straight to MK II because that was just all out better than MK and it was a lot more enjoyable, had better replay and a lot more characters. Trust me, skip MK on SNES and go straight for MK II on SNES.
